FULL GORILLA- in sports, aggressively or with the utmost force, especially in the phrase "to go full gorilla".

Table Scraps
NFL- this league....what's the old saying? Any Given Sunday? Kudos to the Bills, Browns, Chiefs and to those behind Breaking Bad finale (not football I know, but had to get it in). Good thing the Browns season is over and I don't have to worry about them anymore. Ravens O looks lost and so does the Eagles D.. curious how many divisions get won with a 10-6 or 9-7 record. St. Peyton of Manning proving Mike Ditka's Sunday morning comments accurate.
MLB- How about a good old fashioned rust belt World Series? Who would not enjoy the Pirates/Indians in late October. Yet again baseball delivers right up to and including tonight's play-in between Rangers and Rays. Lots to like in who's left, so many reclamation stories it is truly tough to pick a fave.
NHL- eve of a new season, new divisions, an Olympic year, who can say who stands tall in June...top o' my head, couple quick picks- Ottawa and St Louis
Rivera- Never been a Yankees fan but the way the Pinstripers handled the last few weeks is what "mystique" is all about. The Pettitte/Jeter saunter to the mound had to leave even the hardest among us with a small lump in the throat. We may truly have had a birdseye view of history watching a a true master at his art.
Blue Jays- Twitter full of all sorts of chest pounding yesterday about how scrappy the birds were in game 162, not letting the Rays out of Toronto easily... way too late fellas, where was this never say die attitude in May, or June, or April?...This year goes into the books as an epic disapointment. And don't read me the injury report either- every team gets hurt. I am not buying that, too many good stories this year of teams turning it around to view the J's dismal campaign as anything other than a bust.
NBA- 2016 All Star Game in Toronto...fantastic. I will try to care, God knows I have 2 years + to get jacked.
CFL- Without a doubt, the "rouge" the most charming part of our game...how many games have been won or lost because of that little sucker? Anytime I see a 4-4 score, makes me proud to be Canadian. Actually... I do like the single.

Table Scraps
Take a bow Browns, Titans, Lions, Colts ....in what was a bizarre day, could it be that actually its the 53 guys in the room that matter in the case of the Browns and not the ever widening noise caused by sports media that told us it was over for the Clevelanders with the Trent Richardson deal. Putting on that jersey does matter and some pride kicked in and the Browns showed the right way to shut everybody the hell up, if only for 1 week.
Memo to Jets/Bills- that was unwatchable, you have got to be joking...cue gleeful noises in Miami and Foxboro.
Baseball- one more week and still much to be decided and the Yankees show why they are the Yankees with the live Metallica performance of Enter Sandman for Rivera's farewell....just cool on a lot of levels.
Leafs/Sabres- David Clarkson, the top Leaf FA signing in the off season is now done for 10 cause he jumped the boards in a pre-season melee involving Phil Kessel and John Scott. This whole thing was beyond idiotic on so many levels and now the Leafs find themselves without a star piece in a new divison where a poor 10 games could make all the difference.

Dog Day Afternoon...I'm watching baseball
Ohio St 76 Florida A&M 0, Louisville hangs 72 on Florida International and pitches a shutout to boot and Miami (Fla) registers 77 against Savannah St..who? That's right, that notable gridiron goliath- Savannah State. You want me to believe NCAA? Then don't let days like yesterday happen. Got some relief with Notre Dame and Michigan St, plus a spirited UConn team that gave Michigan all it could handle but in what should have been another can't miss NCAA Saturday the day belonged more to the impending race for baseball's playoffs, at least as far as my attention went. If part of your marketing and sales pitch is that every Saturday matters for the Top 25 on their way to a BCS bowl or national championship then make it matter every week with no Savannah States dotting the football landscape.

Yahoo Sports NFL Picks Week #3
compliments of Yahoo Sports
Chiefs/Eagles
One year ago is someone suggested that tonight's Chiefs/Eagles game fell into the category of "Must See TV" it would have been laughable. KC was on its way to a dismal 2-14 season and a overhaul of their organization, the Eagles..yuck 4-12 and a last place finish. Not exactly the ingredients that would lead you to mark the Thursday night inter-conference battle on your calendar. BUT- here we are and tonight's game has taken on a cache and appeal that has the water cooler experts solidly divided. Send Andy Reid to the heartland, get him a number one and a QB and suddently the 2-0 Chiefs are kinda the darlings of the early NFL campaign. Bring in Chip "the Visor" Kelly and his 900 plays a game strategy and join the revolution- there's lotsa room on the bandwagon in Philly. Reid never did get it done in Philly, testament to the fact that it is a damn difficult undertaking to win the Lombardi. He deserves credit for 5 NFC Championship game appearances and one Super Bowl visit as well as steering the good ship Eagle for 13 years. That and that alone is reason enough for me to root the KC'ers on tonight to give the big guy a small measure of satisfaction, coming into the City of Brotherly Love and taking one away from the hometown Iggles.
Funny how things can change in sports in a year, the NFL Network lands in a big pile of happy early on with a Thursday night match-up that has some real emotion, storylines and interest. For all of us who will watch tonight, lets hope the play on the field lives up to the hype.

Monkey Business-NFL- Week 2
Some thoughts on Week 2-
NFC Least- not much to cheer for here, Skins and GMen both 0-2 and the Revolution that was Chip Kelly's offense lasted 6 days.No shortage of talk radio or headline fodder in DC based on the poor play of RGIII, and the Cowboys, well the perfect tonic for a resurgent effort in KC. Long season ahead but would be stunned if 9-7 or 10-6 doesn't get it done again this year.
Houston- 2-0 and getting it done the way teams that go deep in the post season often do: Winning when it counts. Both the Chargers and Titans played up to the Texans and it took a week 1 comeback and OT to get the victories but Houston could just be getting tuned up.
Buffalo- EJ Manuel makes believers of us all. Big comeback on a big stage with a fanbase starving for someone to rally around.
Manning v Manning- thought the home movies on ESPN
were more entertaining
